I am concerned about the settlement scheme application process for EU citizens living in the UK. Last week, I asked the Minister how many people who had applied for settled status have been given the less secure pre-settled status. I did not receive an answer to my question, an occurrence which seems to be an ongoing trend not just of the Home Department but a hallmark of the Conservative government during questions in the House of Commons.

I will carry on campaigning to fix this. I have asked Written Parliamentary Questions about this process, including asking the Home Secretary if I could have data on those who have not yet completed the application process. I am worried that there are people being left behind in Bristol West, particularly the over 65 age group. You can see the response that I have received from the Written Parliamentary Questions here:

If you are a EU citizen living here, please apply if you have not done so already. Please get into contact with me if you or anyone you know if yet to apply or who is experiencing problems with the application process. I am worried that those who have the legal right to be here aren’t being treated properly, this process should be seamless.
