Yesterday I asked the government about its strategy for school places. In some areas of Bristol, families are moving further out due to the high price of rent and the lack of open space. I believe many of these changes affecting schools could be anticipated and planned for in the school system.
I have been working closely with two schools in Bristol West which are suffering due to declining numbers of pupils as the demographics of the innercity change. As part of this work I have recently held meetings with the Church Authorities and Bristol City Council to ensure they are being supported.
