I have campaigned for a long time with the Musicians’ Union for the government to understand that so many musicians’, artists’, and creative technicians’ livelihoods depend on the visa and tariff-free travel rights that our EU membership currently gives. I am furious that the government are still unable to reassure those working in the creative industries that their ability to tour won’t be affected and that they won’t incur costs as a result of Brexit.
I will continue to fight for smooth touring arrangements in the EU. I would advise, however, that anyone who plans to tour EU countries after the 31 October to make preparations now. The Musicians Union’s website has a helpful FAQ page on the kinds of arrangements musicians and their crews can put in place now.
