At Prime Minister’s Questions on Wednesday 4 September, my fellow Labour MP Tan Dhesi excoriated the Prime Minister for the language he has used about black and Asian people and asked him to apologise for the hurt he has caused.

The PM did not apologise; indeed his answer was so utterly inadequate that later in the day I asked the Speaker, in a point of order, what other actions Tan might take in order to get a proper response to his serious question about racism.  You can see my intervention and the Speaker’s response here.

The Prime Minister needs to recognise the hurt caused by his racist language
