Today Andrea Leadsom announced we will see the Immigration Bill next week.
On SIX previous occasions I have asked the Leader of the House when this long-delayed legislation will arrive – so I will believe it when I see it. Meanwhile, the future of our country looks increasingly precarious.
When will we hold the debate on the EU Withdrawal Agreement and the meaningful vote, which the Prime Minister cancelled on Monday? We have four days next week they could bring it back – but all Leadsom would say is that it will come before 21 January.
This is unacceptable. Waiting until 21 January leaves just 67 days before our planned departure date, raising the likelihood of no deal and putting pressure on businesses, organisations and millions of citizens of other EU countries across the UK.
