There are 3.8 million EU citizens living in the UK. They contribute a vast amount to this country, in many different ways. I often meet constituents from other EU countries who are extremely worried about their ability to continue to live in the UK. I am also extremely concerned about the 800,000 UK citizens living elsewhere in the EU.
On Monday I challenged DExEU Minister Suella Braverman about the government’s failure to deal with with my constituents’ concerns. The government has done precious little to listen to people and deal with their fears. Several constituents have told me they no longer see a future here and are planning to leave the UK. The government’s lack of action is making this worse.
In little more than six months, we risk crashing out of the EU without any deal. This worries me. If I didn’t have a UK passport, I would be even more worried. I will do everything I can to stop this from happening.
