What do Tory MPs do when one of them breaks the lobbying rules?

They rip up the rules!

Today, MPs were supposed to vote on an independent report that Tory MP Owen Paterson lobbied on behalf of several companies paying him.

Incredibly, the Tory response was voting for an amendment to tear up the scrutiny system which protects us from corruption in public life.

This is a new, extraordinary chapter in the story of Tory sleaze.

As Shadow Leader of the House, I led for the Opposition in a debate on this scandalous episode (watch my speech here) and gave several news interviews.
