The Prime Minister and the government could learn a lot from the Gareth Southgate School of Leadership.
The England players and manager exemplify the best of British values. They stand up to racism and inequality. They succeed through hard work and discipline. And they are able to learn from their mistakes. These are all qualities the British people seem to appreciate – but seem to be completely lacking in our government.
In Business Questions this week, I brought up a long list of issues that the government seem to have abandoned, including the climate emergency, fair pay for NHS staff and the UK’s commitments to overseas aid.
