Last week on BBC Radio Bristol I discussed the letter that I sent to big businesses in Bristol West, urging them to donate old laptops and equipment to local children and young people. There are some great local charities such as DigiLocal who are collecting unwanted laptops, reformatting them securely and giving them to local schools and communities. Although schools may be open now, teachers tell me it is more important than ever that all students have the technology to catch-up.
I’m so pleased with the reception so far – at least five businesses have written to me to tell me what they are already doing to support children and young people with their old equipment. If you are a business, I hope that this is something that you will consider.
