I have repeatedly called for investment in marine energy and government support for Swansea Bay Tidal Lagoon. It would power 150,000 homes, create thousands of jobs in Wales and the West of England, and represent real action in the face of the climate emergency. But the Tories have ignored this huge potential, withdrawing investment last year.
During Labour’s manifesto launch, Jeremy Corbyn confirmed that a Labour government will build this project. If re-elected I will continue to push for clean, renewable energy. We must end our use of fossil fuels as quickly as possible.
