Votes at 16: My View

Today in the Chamber MPs were discussing a Labour amendment to extend the franchise for the EU referendum to 16 and 17 year olds. I gave a speech supporting the principle of the voting age being lowered to 16 (video below). This measure will engage, empower and inspire young people to be involved in politics, especially with regard to a vote which will have such a potentially significant impact on the future of our younger generation.
