Since the Windrush scandal came to light around two years ago, the government has been despicably slow to make it right.

Yesterday I asked whether the government will release information on the people who have died while waiting for compensation. At least one of my constituents has died while waiting and his family continue to feel let down by the system.

I will bring this up again in the Windrush Compensation Bill debate on Monday. The government needs to redouble efforts to repair the damage of the discriminatory ‘hostile environment’ and compensate everyone who had their lives disrupted. Tragically, for some of our valued citizens from the Caribbean and beyond, it will come too late.
