Today I spoke out about the language of politicians, including one particular party leader who has threatened to “put the fear of God” into MPs. On the far right, some will see this phrase as a sly wink endorsing threats and violent attacks.

During the divisive referendum campaign three years ago, extreme rhetoric incited the murder of an MP and a shocking rise in hate crime. As we go into the European elections, we cannot allow this to happen again.
