People with disabilities have contacted me with concerns for their safety when they are forced to share the pavement with cyclists.

Yesterday I asked Transport Minister Jesse Norman what his department is doing to make pavements safe for everyone, including wheelchair users or visually impaired people.

Cycling and walking are my preferred methods of transport around Bristol and the only vehicle I own is a bike. I want there to be more cycle lanes with proper segregation between cars and bikes so that they are safer and more people can cycle.

I am proud to represent a constituency where more people cycle than in almost any other part of the country. It is vital that cyclists have safe cycle lanes, cars keep out of cycle lanes and cyclists do not cycle on pavements. Everyone should be able to get about the city in safety.
