"She fights against unfair rent policies and supports everyone’s right to access university education."

– Sophie Setter Jerrome, Bristol University student

Labour will abolish tuition fees as of September, even for students who have already started studying.

Locally, Thangam has campaigned for a ban on letting agency fees, which will stop tenants being hit with surprise charges.

"My vote for Thangam is a vote for an alternative to the continued underfunding of our health service.

"I hope she is re-elected and can continue to provide a local voice in parliament in support of Bristol West's NHS patients and staff"

– Tom Graver, Junior Doctor

The Tories are breaking our NHS. Labour will link up health and social care, and always support NHS staff who work so hard to care for patients.

Thangam supported the Junior Doctors' strike last year, and cares deeply about delivering a fully funded NHS where patients get the care they need and staff are appreciated and supported.

Vote for Thangam on 8 June to support our NHS!

"I'm voting for Thangam because the Labour Party has an aspiration to move forward into the 21st century.

"Jeremy Corbyn is a person with integrity and honesty, and I have known Thangam for a number of years. She is someone who has got the population of Bristol close to her heart; she is genuine, and she is very supportive of Bristol’s Afro-Carribean community.

"For communities such as mine who have not been keen on voting, this election has brought a lot of people to Labour: to support our NHS, our schools, and our pensioners.

"Thangam has fought inequalities within the criminal justice system, and worked to promote equality of opportunity for all races and communities. We need to ensure that our future generations are safe and can succeed."

"Thangam has been a fantastic MP for Bristol West.

"She helped secure funding to set up a Clean Air Zone, she brought together arts organisations from across the city, and she helps residents with casework issues every day. After the Brexit vote, we worked together to reassure EU citizens here that they are welcome and valued. I know how much Thangam cares about everyone in our city, and I will be voting for her on 8 June."

– Marvin Rees, Mayor of Bristol

Thangam says: "It has been an honour to work alongside Marvin to make sure Bristol works for everyone. If I'm re-elected we'll continue to work together to reduce inequality and increase the quality of life for everyone in our city."

Charles_2_large.jpg"As someone who volunteers to support refugees and asylum seekers, I am extremely grateful for the swift response I have had from Thangam, in contacting the relevant government minister on my behalf."

 – Charles Ross, Retired and volunteer

As Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Refugees, Thangam oversaw the production of the "Refugees Welcome?" report. Refugees from across the country shared their experiences, and the report revealed a clear two-tier system which is leaving thousands homeless and destitute.

Thangam says: "Creating a two-tier system for refugees, loading the dice against people who come here to build a new life, is not just the wrong thing to do, but a costly missed opportunity for Britain. Most refugees want to return home when the conflict is over but they want to contribute to this country in the meantime. These are often skilled professionals and, by definition, they all have strength and determination to offer.

"I will continue to pressure the government to do more to help those fleeing war, famine and persecution abroad. And I will fight to help those who have come to the UK to flourish."
