Do you know what you're voting for - a blog by Bristol Labour Student Ed

My name is Edward Wimble and I’m a student at the University of Bristol and volunteer with Bristol Labour Students and the Bristol West Labour campaign to elect Thangam Debbonaire as our MP. I am writing this blog in my own capacity.

A recent Lord Ashcroft poll shows that what the people of Bristol West want most from the upcoming election is a Labour government. The best way to achieve this is to vote for Thangam Debbonaire and Labour on polling day.

The local Green party have suggested that by voting Green you will be keeping a Labour government honest. This is completely untrue! We do not know what the Green candidate stands for and what policies he supports. Time and again he has made it very clear he does not have to stand by the Green manifesto and can vote as he decides individually. A vote for the Green party is a vote for the unknown.

On May 7th you can vote for Thangam Debbonaire who is clear about her priorities. Fighting to end child poverty, fighting against inequality and discrimination wherever it is found and fighting for good homes for everyone. She’s also bringing with her a quarter of a century of experience in domestic violence prevention work.

Vote for a Labour government that it will stand up for the working people of Bristol West and make the country work for the many and not just the few. Make sure it is Ed Miliband, who brought in the world’s first Climate Change Act with the world’s first legally binding carbon emissions reductions targets, who represents us as the Paris climate change conference. Don’t let David Cameron represent us, who will pander to the climate change sceptics in his party.

On May 7th vote with your heart and vote with your head. Vote for Thangam Debbonaire and Labour.
